Here’s a question: Will Samsung phones get AirPlay 2 now as well?

Now, all of this may come as a bit of a surprise. But it shouldn’t really. Apple is getting ready to ramp up its original TV content. The video version of Apple Music. And Apple Music has always been available on Android and has recently been made available on Amazon Echo as well.

Which, yeah, was another head scratcher if not full on pea-soup spitting spinner as well.

But, in light of the saturationing, which is what I’m gonna keep calling the maturing of the smartphone market, Apple isn’t just about making the iPhone more and more valuable through more and more exclusive content any more. It’s about getting value from that content beyond iPhone exclusivity.

That’s always included Apple Music and now it looks like it’s going to include Apple video as well, and, who knows, maybe Apple’s new Texture-based Magazine and News service at some point.

Could it include iMessage and FaceTime? Hit play and let’s talk it all through!

that aspect ratio looks so futuristic

  4. EverythingTech on February 1, 2021 at 6:25 pm

Why do you even consider this such a big news !!! Haha
"Big integration!" … no it’s not! It’s just an app on the smart TV. So many content providers have their Apps on smart TVs including local providers as well as Netflix and Prime etc…

The real surprise is why is Apple so late to the game if they really want to be a content provider and why is the announcement coming from samsung and samsung only! It should have been an announcement coming from Apple saying that they will make it available on all smart TVs or that the plan is to make it available on all smart TVs!!

Smart TVs made Android TV boxes and Apple TV box obsolete! With your smart TV supporting all these apps why would you want to add an external box and have to switch your TV’s input to that box and etc… it does not make for a great experience compared to just using your smart TV!

In my kind this is a "wow how late to the game is Apple!!" And not such a huge thing that you are making out to be

the question is when will apple upgrade to hi res streaming and files, and hi res bluetooth codecs aptxhd and sonys ldac. apple and beats wireless speaker and headphones sound quite a bit worse over bluetooth than they would with the latest codecs.
apple just does not like to pay licensing fees and its customers suffer, but they have np problem charging others fees.

  6. NateB25 on February 1, 2021 at 6:26 pm

    When does it releases

I just bought a new LG tv FUCK SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Matthew Gaines on February 1, 2021 at 6:32 pm

Wow…not really news anymore. You could connect your android phone to a smart TV and mirror its screen for a decade now.

Due to limitations imposed by Apple iTunes, I’ve already bought into alternative services. No need for this move now.

  14. Dersim Tugal on February 1, 2021 at 6:33 pm

Do you think, we Can use a HomePod as „soundbar“ for the new Samsung tvs via AirPlay?

  15. Tigerex966 on February 1, 2021 at 6:34 pm

money from licensing and a reason for more people to use itunes and apple music, and not just spotify, chromecast audio , tidal, etc

  16. XXX P on February 1, 2021 at 6:36 pm

    Why? Money … more money.

  17. GAMEBOIMARCUS on February 1, 2021 at 6:39 pm

You make a lot of excuses of Apple’s short comings. iTunes being total crap on windows a decade ago just made me not use iTunes and ditch the iPod and Apple all together. So them making a crappy app for Samsung TVs will not play in 2019 when you have tons of competition. Apple is desperate and it’s showing years after their god died.

  18. SomeDude UK on February 1, 2021 at 6:39 pm

I just want to say, I really, really , really appreciate the aspect ratio of this video!! Perfect for XS Max!
    Great content too!

Does this mean that we’ll be able to stream audio from a Samsung tv to a pair of HomePods?

If Apple were to build a pay wall on iMessage and FaceTime, then no one will buy the iPhone or iPad anymore.

  28. Jhardy0786 on February 1, 2021 at 6:50 pm

Do you think apple is going to stop making the applets box

  29. LeBarron Burton on February 1, 2021 at 6:53 pm

Hey Rene I really think that this was a move that has to be made by Apple to keep they’re profit margins but I don’t think this is a game they are ready to play…I believe it will ultimately come back to hunt them.

  30. Emilio Rivera on February 1, 2021 at 6:53 pm

2:37 so, if Apple wants iBalls…

  31. Nate Mac on February 1, 2021 at 6:53 pm

This is great for people with iPhones and Samsung TVs because Samsung TVs don’t have Chromcast built in

  32. Reinner Keithens on February 1, 2021 at 6:54 pm

    Apple vs Samsung??
    😱😱😱Sorry,Apple 💘Samsung‼️
Apple en la ruina total uniendose a Samsung 💞💞😂😂😂😂🙈🙈🙈

  33. legitmontrellthigpen on February 1, 2021 at 6:55 pm

    I’m not surprised.
Over the past year there have been several Android apps popping up with the ability to stream to the Apple TV. I contacted Apple about it and they said that tvOS was using the same software for streaming as several other smart tvs/boxes. The only thing I could think of was that an Apple TV built by Samsung was going to be released with tvOS. I think that allowing your competitor to help sell your product is the smartest thing you can do right now in tech.

  34. Makarand Joshi on February 1, 2021 at 6:55 pm

From this it looks likely that sometime afterwords apple may release their virgin OS on Samsung phones and that will be opening doors to the world.

  35. Nícollas Dias on February 1, 2021 at 6:58 pm

I’ve always wanted that every apple product became an Apple TV wireless. It seems this is it. Because all I wanted was to show whatever on my iPhone on any screen. And Air Play 2 is the way to go. Can’t wait for this!

  36. Chris Grant on February 1, 2021 at 6:59 pm

I thought this was going to happen a few years ago Apple patents don’t do anything really all the phones look alike and do the same thing now the phones sells are going to go down and Apple would release iOS on other phones there is only so much you can do to the phone

Beacuse Apple Knows That Samsung Is The Best

  39. Yours Truly on February 1, 2021 at 7:00 pm

Well, I was tired of having to waste a HDMI port on that little black box. I was wondering when Apple was just going to integrate everything contained in that little black box, straight into a smart tv. Perhaps, I’m off, but this is what I’ve been waiting for. Correct me if I’m wrong.

  40. Chris G on February 1, 2021 at 7:01 pm

One love, why not? I have Samsung as my daily driver but have a used iPhone because I have so much music on iTunes.

  41. Anthony Andrew on February 1, 2021 at 7:01 pm

Apple, like Google needs as many portals into its growing service division as possible. It makes perfect business sense regardless of the company name. I can’t see why this perplexes people.

  42. STEVE ORTEZ on February 1, 2021 at 7:04 pm

Will air play 2 apply to all models 2018 or just 2019 and up

  43. StorminWolf on February 1, 2021 at 7:06 pm

ONCE had a Samsung tv. Never again. Overpriced crap. I stick with LG for now. I‘ll either get an Apple TV at some point or hope that the content will come to fire hd as well.

  44. Qaz Qwertyqaz on February 1, 2021 at 7:06 pm

Uses android for their phones, chooses apple tv for TVs. Because fuck logic.

  45. Kristián Sokol on February 1, 2021 at 7:06 pm

Great vid ✌🏽 i was just thinking that it’s a bit Apple TV killer if they put that on Samsung TV then there is very few reasons to get Apple TV

  46. Cacca Rooch on February 1, 2021 at 7:06 pm

The audio video is off synch.

  47. Frostie-Flake on February 1, 2021 at 7:07 pm

The issue is NETWORK-& its only going to get worse w/5G contention issues & realistic physical packet routing limitations because of the laws of physics! In 1999 I demonstrated such a model that would handle 4K needs for a large number real-time channels and now working on a new national network to address those issues-in 1998 I say down w/manger of QuickTime development at Apple we discussed this model for broadband infrastructure-Apple could have lead then, but it was early then came the telecom crash until now!

  48. Joshua Bardon on February 1, 2021 at 7:08 pm

I think iMessage should be exclusive to iPhone iPad iPod Mac etc. OR have android users pay for iMessage

  49. The Dausend Family Home Videos on February 1, 2021 at 7:13 pm

Will you be able to stream the audio from your TV to Airplay 2 speakers or can you only use the television as an AirPlay destination?
