What kind of Gaming Laptop should you get for School/University?

What sort of hardware should be included in your Gaming Laptop for school or university work? A mobile Ryzen cpu? A mobile Intel cpu? What about Radeon or Nvidia? That and many other distinctions based off my experiences as a Computer Engineer

I personally don’t recommend getting a gaming laptop for school. Here are my reasons.

    1) Weight- These laptops plus the charger ( trust me these need a charge in between classes) make it unbearable on your back.

    2) Work and Play- If your like me, you have a good enough pc to play games. Why buy a gaming laptop when you have a good desktop?

    3) Price- I’m going into computer science but I’m still taking my gen eds at community college. I feel like I wasted $330 dollars on my gaming laptop. (I have a Dell G3579) I don’t have that much money to spend.

Let’s have a civil discussion in the comments. I genuinely want to have a conversation.

Macbooks are the best for school. You also look like an absolute clown using a gaming laptop in lectures, believe me

thx now I have one school laptop and one gaming laptop. I can bring both of them to school and around study hall I can just pull my gaming laptop out and play on it until its time to go

Great advice. I purchased my laptop for college last year. I got a GTX 1050 in it and it really came in handy for my Calc III class where we had to use CalcPlot 3D to plot 3D graphs. The graphs would sluggishly render on the intel integrated graphics but rendered much faster on my GPU.

    I bought a laptop from a school friend for 700, it’s an alienware m15 R3 with an i7 7700HQ, A GTX 1070M, 16GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, and a 1TB HDD.

Where u get the wallpapers man

  36. U_Jar on June 7, 2021 at 5:40 am

So if i could get some help on this it would be very appreciated: I will be taking a course that doesn’t involve having to do too much on my laptop that needs a lot of processing power (business major), however i will be having a year abroad where i dont plan to take my desktop but i still want to game, so i am still questioning if a gaming laptop would be a viable option for me, since they can get heavy and loud- which may not be the best for lectures.
