I do not recommend going the projector route when you don’t have at least $5k to spend. I’ve seen DIYers having the highest level of disappointment when they see what a "Budget projection system" actually delivers.

Awesome combination: Sony 295ES 4k projector and Screen Innovations slate 1.2 gain screens (5 series or better). This combo can give near OLED performance at much larger sizes.

Great discussion. I run a combo set-up in my room due to the layout. For normal viewing I use my tv (Panasonic ZT 65”), and for movie watching I use the projector (Epson 5030ub) mated with a 100” acoustic transparent drop down 16 x 9 screen. Thanks, and keep up the great work😆😆✌️

I HAVE BOTH TVS AND PROJECTORS STOP MAKING IT HARD FOR YOUR SELF JUST  BUY BOTH YOU WILL BE HAPPY IF U CANT AFORD BOTH  THEN GET THE BIG 85 OR 86 INCH TV FIRST THEN A CHEAP PROJECTOR TO START OUT  THEN WHEN U HAVE THE MONEY A 4K PROJECTOR AND A SCREEN THEN GO FROM THERE AUDIO DONE DEAL.

Biggest downfall l found with projectors that you didn’t mention was the heat they chuck out and the Fan noise, they can be so noisy it’s like having a hair dryer on constantly

Thanks for a great video! I have an older Benq 1080p projector, and it has worked well for the last ~4 years but it’s time to upgrade to 4K. In taking a look, even a Cheap brand name 85” TV beats projectors at everything except size (Brightness, contrast, noise, power consumption, reliability, ease of installation, HDR capability, colour accuracy, etc).

Thanks, I have been using projector for the last ten years, now on my second epson5040. Screen is only 92 diagonal. Must say next purchase may actually be an 85 tv (or bigger if available) due to most of the motives you expressed in your video. Thanks. Greetings from Argentina

You forgot one thing. If you want 3D you must go with a projector.
