Today I want to touch on what gear you need to become a well outfitted youtuber with the best laptop.

1 ) Dell XPS 15 (Top Recommendation)
Talk about Fast! Check out the specs on this beast. full 32GB of RAM, 1TB SSD, and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050

– 15.6-inch 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) InfinityEdge touch display
– 32 GB DDR4-2400MHz, No Optical Drive
– 1TB PCIe Solid State Drive
– 7th Generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad Core Processor (6M
cache, up to 3.8 GHz), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 4GB
DDR5 Graphics

2 ) Macbook Pro 15
You thought I was going to leave out the trusty go to, the Macbook Pro. Well here it is! But be warned. the Macbook Pro has its 16GB RAM Soldered to the motherboard. You CAN NOT upgrade this machine.

– 2.9GHz quad-core 7th-generation Intel Core i7 processor
Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
– 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory
– 512GB SSD storage
– Radeon Pro 560 with 4GB memory (GPU)
– Four Thunderbolt 3 ports

3 ) HP Omen
I would personally buy this over the Macbook competitor because you get double the RAM, i7 quad core processor over the m3 daul core processor, and larger screen to work on your designs.

– Intel Quad Core i7-7700HQ 2.8GHz (Turbo up to 3.8GHz)
– NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (4GB GDDR5 dedicated)
– 16GB DDR4-2133 RAM
– 1TB SATA 7200 RPM + 512GB Solid State Drive (Boot)
– 15.6″ Full-HD IPS UWVA Anti-Glare WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080)

4 ) MSI GL72M with 17.3″ Screen
Nvidia GT 1050 graphics card, a 128GB solid state hard drive + 1TB of 5400rpm SATA hard drive. Unfortunately it still only has 8GB of ram, so that is a bit of a downer.

Display: 17.3″ Full HD
Processor: Intel Core i7-7700HQ (2.8-3.8GHz)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA’s GTX 1050 2G GDDR5
RAM: 16GB DDR4 2133MHz
Hard Drive: 256GB SSD M.2 SATA + 1TB (SATA) 7200rpm

5 ) Dell Inspiron 7000 Flagship
Comes standard with 16GB of RAM, 12GB of Solid State Hard Drive + 1TB of SATA Hard Drive, but it slides in as the entry level to the top four best because of the Nvidia GTX 960 Graphics card. 16GB DDR3 RAM

– Full HD 1920 x 1080
– 128 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD; 15.6″
– NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5
– Intel Core i7-6700HQ Quad-Core processor, 2.6GHz can boost up
to 3.5GHz

Hello! I have a question concerning RAM. I just bought a 14 HP Laptop PC for $150 and it has 4gb RAM. Would the amount of RAM matter if I were to edit videos for YouTube on the laptop?

Hey I know I’m late to the party 😅 but I want to start a YouTube channel so therefore I would need editing software like adobe premiere pro and Photoshop but I would like to use my elgato to record gameplay on it as well . Is the Dell XSP 13/15 still ok to purchase for my use? Or should I get something completely different.

  12. Adam Alb on February 10, 2021 at 5:45 pm

Great video. If somebody is super serious of starting the best You Tube channel they possibly can, with the highest possible quality, would you recommend buying a desktop computer? Or do you think a laptop works okay? If you’d recommend a desktop computer, what type would you recommend? And if a laptop, would you still recommend a Dell XPS 15? Also, what would your ultimate video editing software be for a desktop computer? I know you like Premiere Pro for the Dell. Also, what type of microphones and cameras would you recommend buying? I want to make sure the channel is the highest possible quality. Thanks! GOD BLESS.

  13. SarahHogan100 on February 10, 2021 at 5:45 pm

Hello, I was wondering what you would recommend now that its 2020? I was hoping for a laptop and basically everything you have talked about might as well be in a different language because I do not understand it lol.

Hey Ben, I know I’m kind of late but I’m just now seeing this video. You made things very clear and understandable. Which was very helpful. I’m just wondering if you could help me find the right labtop to start my YouTube channel. My YouTube channel is going to consist of Vlogs, Reaction Videos, Pranks, Challenges, and more. But I’m on a budget friendly under $1000. I was just wondering if you could recommend me 3 good long-lasting labtops that works smoothly and fast for under $1000? Please and Thank You.

  19. Cindy Ingraham on February 10, 2021 at 5:51 pm

When someone is just starting a channel we don’t have a $1000.00 or more to drop on a computer yet. I would love to find a video that gives you the bare minimum of what you’re going to need to get your channel up and going. when you’re channel starts making money, you being to get a viewer base, then you can afford to update or upgrade your computer. With this being said there still others things which are a must, lighting, you have to invest in a a inexpensive microphone system which sounds as good as you can get for the buck, not to mention what you will be using to film you’re videos.

  20. Typical_Rain on February 10, 2021 at 5:51 pm

heres what the minimum video editing and recording specs should be:
    cpu: quad core+, 2.6 ghz+
    qpu: 2 gigabytes+ vram
    memory(ram): 8 gigabytes+ ram
    storage(for video files): 128 gigabytes+
programs for video editing and recording(if your new and want help with this type of stuff):
recording: OBS Studio(for good computers) or Bandicam(for not that strong computers)
video editing: VSDC Video Editor(can run on literally anything)
Hope this will help anyone new to the recording and editing world but this is just my personal opinion so you don’t have to go with what i’m saying, example: i like to use VSDC because within my 4th day using it, i already knew all the mechanics and how to do everything but you don’t have to take my word for it because its just my opinion.

I know nothing about computers. I bought a dell Inspiron 7386 last year and then wanted to get into making YouTube videos recently. This was helpful 👍🏽

  25. Ashley Fisher on February 10, 2021 at 5:55 pm

So I’ve been making videos on my channel and for my Instagram for a while but I need Final Cut Pro cuz the software on my dell is literally the worst in the world. I’m considering ordering the Mac book pro 13” rather than the 16” because I can upgrade the storage and such to have up to 2 TB of storage and 16GB of memory and the i7 processor and its less expensive than the 16”, my question for you is, considering the main use of my laptop will be for video editing and regular work purposes, would I be fine with the 13” or would you suggest saving up for the 16”

Hi Ben. Nice content. It’s so lovely that you are very helpful in the comment section by replying the comments. How nice and thoughtful of you. I’m looking for a laptop, basically for editing my YouTube videos. Sadly, I have never owned a laptop before🙈 so I know nothing about laptops. I like MacBooks cause I use an iPhone (but they’re pretty pricey). Is there any thing special about a MacBook? Is there any other good laptop I can use? Thanks. Buckets of love from Nigeria❤️❤️

  44. Hailey Parker on February 10, 2021 at 6:11 pm

This is a great video! Thank you for explaining things in a simple way that I can actually understand.
I am new to editing and have been researching laptops for weeks now.
I was really considering the Dell XPS 15, but from what I have read is that it has a problem overheating while editing videos. That is the one thing holding me back from the Dell.
I also am looking into the Razer Blade 1070 MAXQ. The only thing I am worried about is is the screen color accurate, or does it automatically color correct?
