  39. Harm Jan on November 14, 2021 at 12:12 pm

You forgot one custom ROM in this video. You should have mentioned CalxOS as well. CalxOS is just like GrapheneOS a privacy ROM but it’s more oriented at the average phone user. It’s just like GrapheneOS build on OSM android and looks just like stock android, but the difference with GrapOS is that, if you want, you can download Fdroid and MicroG at the first booth. Fdroid has some more permissions this way than when you download it yourself as an APK. It can update apps which you’ve downloaded in the background itself and with MicroG you can use apps which require Gservices. It is based on a recent version of Android (I can’t remember it now) security patches are regularly updated and you can lock the boot loader after you have downloaded the ROM.

This ROM is only available for the latest Google pixel phones and one Xiaumi phone and is open source.

CalxOS is one of several projects of the Calx Institute which goal it is to make more people aware about their privacy. If you are interested in privacy you should definitely check them out. Even their finances are public. (Mostly backed by members and donations)

This is an interesting video by Techlore about the ROM.

He has also interviewed the founder of the Calx Institute.

    Please check it out!

So i have a redmi note 8 which usually runs with miui 12 but that sucks cuz the skin is too heavy unlike stock android so i recently flashed it with evolution x and to be honest it works really wellll.
But i really Miss a feature which was on the Miui
    Its Called Second Space
Anyone who owns an MIUI running phone is the admin or the owner of the First space. As the name suggests, Second space creates a new, fresh space on your phone without taking any data from the First space. However, you can import data from First space using the built-in option to move data.

When you create a Second space, the phone will look like you just took it out of the box or reset it for only the pre-installed apps will be available to you.
So now the Phone has 2 differenet Spaces
And Both can be opened from the same lockscreen
    Which also means
i can setup my index finger for unlocking my Normal First Space And set my Middle finger for Second Space.
And thats the best thing about it
No one can really find u have a secret Space
So when there are parents or people othr than friends around me i can use the normal first space which is work stuff.
And whn im alone or with frnds i can use Second Space.
Its different from the Multiple Users in android as that has 2 different lockscreens
so if i need to enter to the secret space i need to press the multiple users icon and choose the other user icon to enter.
    But the miui second space
the lockscreen is the same for both spaces
so u can set 2 different fingerprints to unlock any space from the screen
You dont need to Do anything but just use your second space finger to enter it.

Talking about Graphene Os while constantly showing google search bar with google assistant looks a bit funny. Puffin OS also doesnt seem to be very legit. I would definitely include any linux based os. Such as Ubuntu Touch, Tizen, PureOS or Plasma

  43. Ritesh Sharma on November 14, 2021 at 12:15 pm

Graphene os only supported by pixel phones??

  44. HYZEL on November 14, 2021 at 12:17 pm

Got some questions. Can doing this stop phone tracking and remove bloatware? The new covid tracking apps will someday become mandarory on all phones..I want that off

  46. Rok Bedekovič on November 14, 2021 at 12:20 pm

wasnt E controversial? still getting your data but using it for themselfs? there was a lot of talk about /e/ not good for privacy

  47. Gaming Chanel on November 14, 2021 at 12:24 pm

which one best for poco x2?

Does anyone know if it’s possible to use NFC payments with de-googled phone?

  49. User on November 14, 2021 at 12:25 pm

    LineageOS weakens security by:
    * Using userdebug builds which adds tons of debugging tools as extra attack surface.
    * Weakening SELinux policies and exposing root access via Android Debug Bridge.
    * Requiring an unlocked bootloader and disabling verified boot which is essential to verify the integrity of the OS and prevent malware from gaining persistence.
    * Not implementing rollback protection so an attacker can downgrade the OS to an older version and exploit already patched vulnerabilities, etc.
    * All in all, it’s not a very secure OS.

If you need maximum privacy and security, use GrapheneOS. If you want the added functionality granted by microG, then CalyxOS is the way to go. Techlore has some great videos comparing CalyxOS and GrapheneOS (
