The 4 Best Sony TVs To Buy (2020) – Budget, Mid-Range, LCD, And OLED

Sony TVs are generally a pretty safe bet. They tend to have great picture quality and a good amount of polish. Their build quality also tends to be better than average. Their budget models are not the most competitive TVs, but their high-end and especially their mid-range options are among the best, albeit usually at a price premium.

Best Budget: Sony X750H

Best Mid-Range: Sony X900H

Best LCD: Sony X950H

Best for Dark Rooms: Sony A8H

For most 2020 Sony models, international variants have a very similar model code but with the letters reversed (eg. The US X900H becomes the XH90 in Europe).

  2. Pablo Romero on October 10, 2021 at 8:54 am

Don’t buy SONY. Since many years ago they made expensive TV with bad panels that did not last more than 3 years. Don’t waste your money

  3. Joe R on October 10, 2021 at 8:55 am

I really wish Sony would offer a center stand in the US. I’m not going to go buy a new piece of furniture because the legs for the 75" X900H I want, are so far apart. Sorry Sony. You won’t be getting my money. I want to replace my 2009 Sony Bravia 55". It has a center stand AND it swivels.

  12. Amir Na on October 10, 2021 at 9:04 am

Rting, please reduce viewing angle co efficient in your scoring system. It’s absolutely doesn’t matter and caused a lot of your tv reviews become inaccurate like a much better TV gets overall score than a garbage tv that has good viewing angles! Most people dont really care about that slight picture degradation of viewing from angle and you care too much about it. Great tvs I had such x900f and ru8000 and a bunch of samsungs and vizios as well, and for those who had bad viewing angles, anytime i was watching from angle I had zero issue or complain about picture change. Please reconsider

  17. DigikidForever on October 10, 2021 at 9:11 am

It sure sounds like you said that Sony told Vincent that the blurry text issue will not be fixed……but other sources say otherwise including Sony themselves…..

    Please get the story straight.

  18. Damon Barnes on October 10, 2021 at 9:12 am

Sony trades on its name and reputation more than any other manufacturer. Not to say Sony is a bad TV, its just that a lot can be had for a lot less money from other manufacturers

  22. Tyler Zimmerman on October 10, 2021 at 9:13 am

Can you explain why the 75h does not support apple airplay? This is a feature that is available on TVs half the price. I bought one under the impression that it just wasn’t advertised to include it but assumed it still did.

Hate anything Sony. bought an $800 smart Sony. Dumbest TV ever. Disconnects from Wifi often. Have to restart TV several times a week. Apps move around. Sometimes apps won’t launch. Have had to uninstall app and reinstall to get working. Sony as a brand has lost it in my opinion. Never Sony again.

Just bought the XBR75X800H but not getting it installed for two more weeks. For watching Cable TV, Sports, Netflix, other streaming services and Blue Ray movies, I’m sure this model will be excellent. Can’t go wrong with Sony and their colour accuracy, 4K upscaling and other great features will be more than satisfactory. The fact is, once you get the TV home and working, you won’t be able to tell the difference.

  35. Hitesh Padmashali on October 10, 2021 at 9:26 am

43" X800H or 49" X750H? from a value for money perspective, since both are around same price point.

Hi guys, need your help. Do I go for 65x8000h or 65x7000g with nivida shield? Tqtq

  39. CFL-Tech on October 10, 2021 at 9:35 am

Too much technical stuff for TV’s. If you’re just watching TV shows and movies in general any modern-day TV is going to give you a decent picture. It’s tough to get a really bad TV just like it’s tough to get a really bad smartphone in the 2020’s Sure, are you going to see some black areas that may be more gray in certain light, But the average viewer is going to be satisfied with probably 90% of the TVs available today. 60hz refresh rate is good enough for watching shows. Especially if you’re upgrading from a 7-year or more tv that is not 4K you’re going to see a big difference with any new TV. It’s just a matter of what fits your budget and what size you need for the room. If you’re a gamer, okay now you need to be a little more picky about the refresh and hdmi generation, and a few other things that drive gamers

I bought the x750h 3 weeks ago. I was thinking about exchanging it for the x900h. After learning that about the 4k 120hz problems I’m just gonna save the 450$ and stick with the 750h. It looks good to me.

  41. Jaspal Riat on October 10, 2021 at 9:37 am

Initially bought the 55” X950H but the tv leaned so far back that once I saw it, I couldn’t un-see it. Sony say it’s a design feature, were they assume everyone’s sofa sits higher than the tv.
I returned that and bought 55” X900H instead ($950 on sale). Excellent picture quality and the OS system is far better than Samsung’s !

  42. Jitendra Salunkhe on October 10, 2021 at 9:39 am

Hi guys, I heard the x950h has a rainbow effect on screen due to antiglare or wide angle feature. Is there a way to eliminate this issue?

  45. Robert Kelly on October 10, 2021 at 9:42 am

X950H looks impressive not much upgrade over the excellent X950G.

  46. Arnel Comia on October 10, 2021 at 9:43 am

  48. L A on October 10, 2021 at 9:44 am

I just purchased the 85" X800H a month ago for $1,699. I’m absolutely pleased with it. I’m not a gamer so I have no concerns with anything to do with that. I watch a lot of sports and movies. I have had no problems with motion. The picture and color are absolutely stunning and I am very satisfied with the black levels also. The X800H utilizes VA panels and not IPS. I have no complaints whether watching in the daytime(bright room) or nighttime(dark room). All in all, at this price point and size I’m very pleased with the X800H. But it’s really hard to go wrong with Sony!

  49. manik aggarwal on October 10, 2021 at 9:48 am

    No X800H review ??
