Sony X900H Best TV under $1000?

I have the Sony X900h TV to review, and I have a few of it’s friends the TCL R635 Mini LED, the Vizio OLED H1 and hisense h9g…. all up on the wall to compare, talk about HDR movies, next gen gaming and give out that best mid tier TV of 2020 award..

I’ve been thinking about what makes a TV the best mid tier model, things like picture quality, value, features, and how it handles most content. The Sony X900H and Vizio OLED-H1 are both both HDMI 2.1 capable for 4K@120fps along with the TCL R635 that has HDMI 2.0 but along with the previous two has VRR, Game mode or ALLM and they all have eARC. The Hisense H9G which is being substituted by the Samsung Q90T for today, is a great LED TV for picture quality but lacks the features to make it more useful to buyers. No eARC or hdmi 2.1 features, so can you over look that or does it even matter if you are watching Netflix, cable, and other non gaming content?

Each TV has great upside, but some of the downsides of LED TVs is the blooming which is effected by the local dimming zones helping keep the light from bleeding in dark scenes and in dark rooms. But the brightness advantage can be useful in the daytime and bright rooms.
Which TV is the best mid tier of 2020?

I just got the 65" for 889€ on local sale in Germany. Excited to start using it tomorrow and replacing my 7 year old Samsung.

    Thanks! Got a 75" 900H for $1299 at Costco.

Interesting that you don’t mention sub-titles.
I ALWAYS run subtitles, and every dark scene in a movie is completely ruined by constant darkening and lightening of the screen, as sub-titles come and go. Should’ve commented on a newer video to get your attention I guess…

What gadget or method do you recommend to get Hisense H9G connected to a Sony AVR wirelessly? The two units are far apart (30-40 ft) and I am hoping to avoid using a really long HDMI cable for ARC. Thank you.

I want to buy 55 inch X900H , is it value for money?

  7. Elliot F. on October 31, 2021 at 11:42 am

Great video! should I look into the x900 for around 999 while it’s still around or set my sights onto the Hisense U8G for a bit more money? Is TCL going to upgrade the 6 series this year? Mostly bright viewing, some gaming, lots of streaming…. any thoughts? Thank you much!

one thing that everyone forgets about the 900h it has an 3.0
atsc tuner built in it for OTA 4K broadcasts uncompressed

Just got my 75 inch X900H. All I can say is wow. big step up from my entry level LG IPS LED. I chose the 75 inch X900H over a 65 inch LG CX. I don’t think the picture quality difference is worth the extra money and the extra size does make my room more cinematic!

Imagine getting this in 65 inch under $1,000. In August of 2021 you can’t even dream of it.

    Hi B
Could you help me to choose between the only two TVs that available in my country for my Playstation 5:

  19. Gary huynh on October 31, 2021 at 12:05 pm

I’m purchase a TV tomorrow these are used but in good condition. I can get a Sony A8G OLED in 55 inch for $500 this 55 inch has small scratches on screen only barely noticeable when TV is off which I don’t mind . I can also get the Sony X900H in a 65 inch for $600. The X900H is pretty much Brand new No nothing wrong with it. It’s replacing a 65 inch Curve Samsung 7 Series the JU ones. I’m gonna use a PS5 and pretty much watch stream Movies and occasionally Sports. Will I really notice not having HDMI 2.1? I don’t know much about all these Technical Features so any help would be great!!

  21. Ray Janes on October 31, 2021 at 12:06 pm

I picked up a X900 for equivalent of 800 USD(generally uk prices are 10-15% higher than US about 4month ago. Primarily for gaming cos i lucked out on picking up a new console and hadn’t upgraded to 4k yet. Gotta say im really chuffed with it, my only gripe is that its not blindingly obvious which hdmi port is the 2.1. Great bit of kit for the money.

  22. Eddie Gonzales on October 31, 2021 at 12:07 pm

Watched this video after the sony rep talked me into buyin it from best buy, honestly im pretty happy with my choice. This video made me feel better, got a 65" for $1000

  23. B B on October 31, 2021 at 12:09 pm

Do you have endgame in 1.85:1? Or did you do something? It doesn’t look distorted or stretched but it looks full screen…

  24. Robert Brown on October 31, 2021 at 12:10 pm

The Sony has seemed to gone up in price? Maybe because of popularity?

  25. Game Time on October 31, 2021 at 12:10 pm

I don’t understand how the H9G is being substituted by Q90T lol. Why not just say you’re comparing tv’s under 1,000$ to Samsung’s most expensive 4k model?

  26. Alex on October 31, 2021 at 12:11 pm

Dana white is pissed at you, cause of modified UFC belt.

I live in Canada and can buy an 85" X900H for $3000 vs a 65" A80J for $3100. I have a big enough living room to accommodate. What would you buy?

  33. ErwalDeeas on October 31, 2021 at 12:22 pm

Another great vid man! Given between the choice of a 75" X950H and a 85" X900H, which would you go with? Also, when you go this big of a screen are dead pixels part of the deal or are they still unacceptable? Keep up the great work!

  34. Tony Mak on October 31, 2021 at 12:23 pm

This TV is awful. Don’t make the mistake I made.

These TVs are great for the price. But there are better if desired. See OLED vs. QLED here. https://youtu.be/W1pcV73FP1w

  39. Jan solo on October 31, 2021 at 12:25 pm

Heads up sony has none of the hdmi 2.1 features. Your misinforming people. Tcl has all the features minus the 2.1hdmi. sony has not released the update for what they have been stating in their product.

  40. Raz 02 on October 31, 2021 at 12:25 pm

Which is better for the same price
Lg oled55bx rlb or sony kd55xh9096br

  42. Justin Wolf on October 31, 2021 at 12:26 pm

@B The Installer I’m looking for a 70" TV recommendation under $1,000. Thoughts on the Vizio M-Series vs. Vizio V-Series vs. Samsung TU7000, vs. LG Trumotion Ultra 4KHD vs something else? Thanks.

i bought the x900h and really like it. especially after turning off the motion settings. they gave movies a weird soap opera effect.

Will a samsung soundbar work with this Sony tv?

  46. Derek D on October 31, 2021 at 12:30 pm

Here we are in april 21 and H9G still out of stock. I ordered the X900H through a connection of mine for $925 CAD ($735 USD) and was elated to see that of the 4 you had mounted, I preferred the image of the one that happened to be the X900H. I also found it was more detailed then the other in certain scenes too. It is replacing an 8+ year old samsung.

I don’t understand how u didn’t use the Q80t as it was too expensive so u decided to use the q90t instead? 🤔😂
