I have the Sony X900h TV to review, and I have a few of it’s friends the TCL R635 Mini LED, the Vizio OLED H1 and hisense h9g…. all up on the wall to compare, talk about HDR movies, next gen gaming and give out that best mid tier TV of 2020 award..
I’ve been thinking about what makes a TV the best mid tier model, things like picture quality, value, features, and how it handles most content. The Sony X900H and Vizio OLED-H1 are both both HDMI 2.1 capable for 4K@120fps along with the TCL R635 that has HDMI 2.0 but along with the previous two has VRR, Game mode or ALLM and they all have eARC. The Hisense H9G which is being substituted by the Samsung Q90T for today, is a great LED TV for picture quality but lacks the features to make it more useful to buyers. No eARC or hdmi 2.1 features, so can you over look that or does it even matter if you are watching Netflix, cable, and other non gaming content?
Each TV has great upside, but some of the downsides of LED TVs is the blooming which is effected by the local dimming zones helping keep the light from bleeding in dark scenes and in dark rooms. But the brightness advantage can be useful in the daytime and bright rooms.
Which TV is the best mid tier of 2020?
