Does computer optimization software a real PC fix or Just Snake Oil? that is what we are going to talk about today. All of the PC Optimizer software claim to repair the registry, delete obsolete files, clear Internet browsing traces, boost pc performance, speed up your pc and allow you to uninstall software. But can it actually do what it claims to do on there website?
one thing PC Optimizer Software does is constantly nag you to upgrade and you will get constant Popups. Some also contain malware and have PUPs or Open Candy in the installer, this allows them to install other unwanted software.

  2. John Senchak on March 3, 2021 at 10:03 pm

They don’t work, I have them on my computer, the speed is over 500 percent LOL A lot of the programs will clean out the garbage , releasing more RAM back to the computer giving you the feeling of speediness when starting up programs (browsers) again Posted on Facebook, bye for now cheers

Is Tron Script worth a video? Thanks.

  5. Roland on March 3, 2021 at 10:06 pm

I used CCleaner for years until they started ‘nagging’ too often to upgrade and there was a privacy issue. Moved over to Glary Utilities for all my windows PCs and Bleachbit for all my Linux systems. No problems. Full cleaning and no nagging. I also love to be able to control [R Click] Context menus with Glary. In short Brian is right (as always) too many ‘snake oil’ prgrammes but be more cautious about CCleaner nowadays. Glary / Bleachbit are the best.

I mean you can easily get these program for free by going on TPB website and make sure its from trusted providers. They have different colour badges.
(and scan the files with Virus Total).

The power of Copy and Paste.

I think CCleanerPro is a safe temp file cleaner. Never had an issue.

Even in the computer age, snake oil still exists.

Any software that uses CNN in their advertising shouldn’t even be considered.

Advanced system care is garbage. My PC works better without their optimizations!

  16. R. Ran on March 3, 2021 at 10:19 pm

    Thanks Sir.

  17. cabdriveruk on March 3, 2021 at 10:20 pm

Don’t let any programs near your registry—they’ll either delete something important and stop your PC from working correctly or botch things up some other way. Running this type of software leaves your banking information and files vulnerable to scammers. And as the old saying goes "If it aint broke don’t fix it"

  18. OhlookitsVeld on March 3, 2021 at 10:22 pm

    Isn’t CCleaner real?

  19. Aaron Armstrong on March 3, 2021 at 10:23 pm

I’ve used advanced systemcare for years and i found ways to get the pro version free. it actually manages to apply some tweaks to the system but it doesn’t speed up the system as much as it claims.

  20. I.T Mann on March 3, 2021 at 10:24 pm

Good video Britec09. Yes buyer beware. To be honest much of this ubiquitous Optimiser software is crap !. It’s snake oil sales rubbish. Just to try in pull in more money from the unsuspecting user. Theses websites consist of fake reviews and untested criteria. The only way to keep your Windows OS clean is to try and limit the amount of third party software you install. Clear out your browser history etc. Keep an eye on what you install. Windows itself has methods to clean and delete stuff in the Settings area. Always do your research on software and be careful what you install.

  21. Mikhail T on March 3, 2021 at 10:25 pm

I use bleachbit for cleaning some web caches and that’s about it, everything else is better to do some research to achieve whatever it is you want to do.

  22. MarcTheGod F on March 3, 2021 at 10:26 pm

I got a new job at a Cybersecurity company and although I do like AdvancedSystemCare I have uninstalled it and have never gone back. I now use ESET SMART SECURITY PREMIUM and I let Windows handle the rest! Great video Brian!

  23. Jonathan Maybury on March 3, 2021 at 10:27 pm

Brian, it is ironic that the ad that comes on just before the end of your video was "Total AV" a well-known rip-off merchant.

  24. Aryeh Yehudah Ajzenberg on March 3, 2021 at 10:29 pm

    I ENJOYED THIS VIDEO A LOT !
    THANKS !
COULD YOU PLEASE MAKE ONE REGARDING ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE ?
DO I OR DON’T I NEED TO HAVE A ANTI-VIRUS INSTALLED IN MY SYSTEM ?
    IS MICROSOFT DEFENDER ENOUGH ?
WHY DOES MICROSOFT DOES NOT RELEASE ITS OWN ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE ANYWAY ?
MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS !

Hi Brian, I’ve the BleachBit which is one of the software recommended in your other videos. And I was impressed with it, but I’ve not been using that much. I just leave that in my PC anyway.

When I 1st got into Pc’s there was no internet to speak of, but I got a book that opened my eyes, ‘inside MSDOS 6.22’ being a newcomer at the time to the x86 type of machines as was much more used to the Amiga, it taught me a lot, besides being an indepth introduction to DOS it also covered the hardware to a descent degree and how it worked and more than just listing hardware regions and addresses but even covering things like disk structures soft partitioning and manual disk interleaving – and before long I was doing my memory management by mapping regions by hand rather than using the memmaker utility or qemm386 – in the early days before certified windows logo programs and hardware, pc’s would GPF quite often – if you were maintaining windows installations back then you wouldnt be a stranger to sysedit which opened up all the .ini files in one go and allowed you to edit them – win32 brought along its own issues, for quite a long time the only 32 bit program I installed was solitaire – that was mainly to make sure the win32 extensions were actually working – and certain pieces of hardware would also crash some programs – when w95 was released it came out with a hideous beast that we all now know as the system registry — I remember the tweaking tools that came out and always broke it to some degree – and it also used to break itself – quite often as a result of what we used to call ‘double trouble’ more commonly known to end users as doublespace or ‘drivespace’ disk compression, but these days you shouldnt need a 3rd party tool – windows 10 despite its flaws does seem to perform well enough in most situations, unlike the times of windows 9x and earlier I havent found myself having to reinstall every 3-6 months because of stability and performance issues – but I still have the same habit of monthly backups –

  32. Joe Satchton on March 3, 2021 at 10:36 pm

Glary Utilities Free is all I need. Reputable and safe, provided you know what settings to employ. Once upon a time CCleaner was also useful, but that was before the scandal that screwed themselves. The rest? Yes, garbage….

  33. SAIYAJIN3333 on March 3, 2021 at 10:36 pm

Hold on Britec,CCleaner is not useless at all, been using it for years and it cleans junks rly rly well, there’s nothing wrong with it,but optimize softwares i agree

  36. Melinda de los Santos on March 3, 2021 at 10:40 pm

I almost did, too. Right before checking "Buy Now" a voice from heaven said, "Bit Defender!"

  37. BANTY MECH on March 3, 2021 at 10:41 pm

I never used any optimizing softwares. They just doesn’t work. Because I have a low end pc and I can’t see the difference. Thanks for the video, useful as always. 🤗

  38. Michael M on March 3, 2021 at 10:41 pm

Carey holzmans’s windows optimizer works good but he hasnt quite got to the pc fixing fuctions yet or malware/junk removal

  39. Richard Cranium on March 3, 2021 at 10:42 pm

Why can’t we just have nice things without some fekker always working an angle.

  40. Craig Tegeler on March 3, 2021 at 10:44 pm

For those of you that have mechanical hard drives, Glary’s Disk Defrag does a far better job over the Win version.
I use it every 4 weeks and it does a stand-up job. The Glary Utilities free version does okay on the clean up, provided
that your configuration setup is done properly, BUT it isn’t entirely thorough. The same thing with Advance System
Care Free Version. While using the Pro Version, which costs me 10 bucks annually, it does a fair job, BUT it isn’t
as thorough either, bare in mind; it needs to be configured properly also! I use Glary Utils in the free version to do the
first run of things and follow it up with Advanced System Cleaner and then do a system reboot, and then after that
I use Glary Disk Defrag to finish this off! I am a very heavy system user and to be honest with you, you can run the
utility suites only just once a month on the Second Monday of the month, just one day prior to Microsoft security
updates. My system performance on this 2011 Dell machine does not suffer performance issues until i notice that
my hard drive reaches just over 4 percent. That’s where Glary’s "Disk Defrag" comes in ultra handy! I don’t even think
that Advance System Care’s Defrag can touch the efficiency and speed like Glary’s Disk Defrag; period, hands down!!!
Defrag in it’s self is supposed to rearrange your files on disk into one contiguous file system so that files access time
is ever so quickly and WITHOUT hesitation!!!! This is where Glary’s Disk Defrag takes the trophy!! Also, Advances’ SC
"Vulnerability Fix" does an excellent job searching your MS updates database to see if you a missing patches that could
leave your machine vulnerable to attack, even BETTER than MS system scan and is comparable to to Belarc Advisor!
I have used both system suites and Belarc Advisor for 5 years now and i INSIST on system suites that are able to do
automated tasks in hardly no time at all. When I spend that 10 bucks annually, it saves me A LOT of time like you wouldn’t
believe. Automation done through just a couple clicks, when all the settings under the hood are setup properly is where
it is at. Between system cleanup, safe registry cleaning, and defrag, along with a great backup tool such as Aomei; can be
performed on a 1 terabyte drive inside of about 30 minutes and I have 56 gigs of hard rive space being used.

  41. Pieter van den Heuvel on March 3, 2021 at 10:44 pm

    All crap, exception is ccleaner

  42. William Linington on March 3, 2021 at 10:46 pm

Good video Brian. If Windows and security software is set up properly, there is no need for this crap. Cheers.

  43. John on March 3, 2021 at 10:46 pm

Would you mind doing a review on Ashampoo WinOptimizer 18? thanks in advanced.

  44. Old Rock Geeser on March 3, 2021 at 10:47 pm

Too much crap, getting slower, programs will not leave you alone even after uninstalling them best solution is a fresh install of Windows and when bundle with a good back up of your personal files it might take a little bit longer but what a good cleanup.

  45. Michael S. Harvey on March 3, 2021 at 10:47 pm

I love Wise Registry Cleaner and their Disk Cleaner software but they don’t do as much as they used to. NTREGOPT used to speed up windows load times on old hard disk systems. Windows 10 doesn’t seem to have registry fragmentation issues as much as former versions like XP did. It is far less useful on SSDs.

Privazer is still a good product though, mainly for security. I sometimes use the CCleaner facility to delete former selected restore points on occasion to free up disk space.

The days of classic Norton Utilities which improved the speed of your system are long gone.

I recommend Unchecky though to help prevent unwanted installations or pups.

  46. MGFLYER on March 3, 2021 at 10:48 pm

I almost fell for some of them years back but I caught on to their scam and got rid of it as soon as I did (GREAT VID)

  47. Brandon Taylor on March 3, 2021 at 10:49 pm

They should not be used on a daily basis; that much is certain. Windows’ built-in cleanup tools — the modern Storage Sense and the classic Disk Cleanup — do an excellent job of deleting junk files. I think you should /ONLY/ use these third-party "optimizers" as little as possible, which ideally should be not at all, but if you MUST, only use them once in, oh, say, a month that contains a Friday the 13th. There IS an exception to this rule in the form of BleachBit. No bloat, no upselling, no fuss. Just the deepest clean you can legitimately get from a third-parry drive cleaner.

  48. itsmejj on March 3, 2021 at 10:50 pm

I used faronics deepfreeze, snappy driver, and windows defender for all my pc.

  49. GoogleEyes on March 3, 2021 at 10:55 pm

Good video Brian… ( What’s ya opinion on offline installer Malwarebytes "adwcleaner?) As I’m sure I tried it after one of ya vids showed It! & I’ve never tried It b4 you mentioned it!) It’s always zero found using it…

  50. Erwin Ancer on March 3, 2021 at 10:57 pm

The only safe software which you already covered that I use is Revo Uninstaller and Ultra Virus Killer (UVK) which is 100% safe … otherwise using the standard storage cleaner on win10 system …. Rule of Thumb … Less is More !!!!
