Hi Caleb, so I bought the LG G1 65 based on this comparison to replace my old Sony A8F OLED, and here is my opinion:
    – Picture Quality: LG G1 looks amazing, very oriented towards gamers. Looks stunning on the PS5
    – Wall mount: The wall mount is out of this world, simply like nothing else. It is so close to the wall and slim to the point you wouldn’t believe your eyes.
    – Sound Quality: LG G1 is the worst TV I have ever bought or seen, compared to what the sony offers on all ranges, it sounds garbage. A soundbar is a MUST, no way you can use this TV without it.

Knowing what i know now, I would have gotten the Sony no questions asked.

Please Caleb, don’t down play the sound difference that much

Next time when you compare it do it with the same screen so you can see the difference

  3. CommanderBond AJA on November 13, 2021 at 1:04 pm

@8:56 are you playing cod with motion blur on? why even use a panel with more than 60hz? Honestly the dumbest option they put in the game

  4. MaZEEZaM on November 13, 2021 at 1:05 pm

If you are less concerned with the cost, is the Sony as good for PC FPS gaming as the LG? Does it have G-sync?

80% of the video we get to see only ur face rather than the tv

  7. Kokainarienv0gel on November 13, 2021 at 1:09 pm

    heavy prices.

I bought years ago a C9 OLED in 55" (so the smallest these days)… still happy af with it, i dont care about higher brightness since i was anyways 15 years used to much darker Plasma TVs.

In the film era, when landscape photographers want to make the green looks greener and the red looks ‘redder’, all they have to do is to decrease the exposure by 1/2 stop, whereas advertising and lifestyle photographers when they want the white to looks purer and ‘whiter’, and to reveal details in shadow and dark areas, all they have to do is to increase exposure by 1/2 or 1 stop. In this sense, the LG color palette is aligned with landscape photographers, whereas the Sony’s is aligned with advertising photographers.

I suspect there is something to do with pixels brightness here.

Caleb, thank you for the great review. Since I am not a gamer, I saved my Benjamins and bought the 55 inch A90J. A stunning TV, your review was right on the money. My local TV store gave me a great buy that closed the price gap over the LG G1.

What does a low-resolution image look like? Most are broadcast in low definition as news.

C1 and gx are about the same price currently. Without gaming, which would you recommend?

I am thinking LG supplements it’s revenue from the ads it hosts on their TVs as I’m pretty sure Sony has no ads and I know Panasonic doesn’t.

  31. Baba Yaga on November 13, 2021 at 1:39 pm

Hey! I watch a lot of Marvel movies and notice a crazy amount of Judder on my Samsung TU8000 43" TV. Would these TV’s reduce the judder? the picture looks great, but I can’t stand the judder.

  34. Yelling About Star Trek on November 13, 2021 at 1:42 pm

Great video! Definitely going to check out the LG because of it’s gaming features. I would say pizza lol. It’s basic but I never get tired of it:).

  35. J P on November 13, 2021 at 1:43 pm

Have been using LG G1 for 2 weeks now. Picture quality is great but there are fundamental audio issues. I have a sound bar connected to TV HDMI 2. Many times the audio automatically reverts back to internal TV speakers. Also when Bluetooth headsets are connected and then disconnected, audio reverts to internal TV speakers instead of soundbar. For now I am having to reconnect soundbar manually everytime I power On the tv.

  36. bravo478bl on November 13, 2021 at 1:47 pm

Due to this review I purchased the LG G1 55 yesterday and wall mounted it, I did think of the A80J but LG was more closer to the A90J. The picture quality is astonishing also the gaming side was unbelievable, as soon as I played Borderlands 2 I could feel the difference when firing weapons. Purchased from John Lewis which came with the standard 5 year warranty also added on an extra 5 years for accidental damage which includes screen burn just incase I need it but don’t think I will.
Thanks for helping me make the right decision👌 with this review. Every Sony I’ve owned has been spot on but Internet connection via WiFi was always problematic with disconnecting issues continuously so opted for the LG.

What I want is the Sony A90J what I can afford is only the LG A1

  39. Delnie on November 13, 2021 at 1:49 pm

Here’s an offtopic question. Let’s say my viewing distance was 9.5 ft (2.9m) and I was considering between picture quality and screen size. I could get a 55" LG C1 and 65" Sony X90J for almost the same price. I’ve seen a 55" LG B7A/C7/C8 (not sure which it was) in action with similar viewing distance and it was amazing. My current setup is a low end 43" LG 4k tv with a viewing distance of 7.5ft (2.3m). What would you do in my situation?

  40. Phreak OP on November 13, 2021 at 1:52 pm

Why did LG force us to wall mount this new model? so pointless
