How to Become a Computer Expert in 15 Minutes!

Seriously, anyone can become a computer “expert”!

It doesn’t actually take much to become an “expert” at computers that can basically solve any computer or tech problem you come across. The big secret for every IT professional is not that they already know how to fix computers, but rather they are just good at Googling for the answer! In this video, we go over a few techniques on how to essentially find the solution to any problem by searching for terms that are most likely to return solutions other people have come up with about the same issue. With a bit of practice, you may never need to get tech support again!

I think I already do this. I’m glad to know I’m on the right track!
I’d like to add that when I find fixes on the internet, part of my searching will be to check that the fixes are legit and won’t cause even more problems.

When I solve peoles computer crahses and problems, they think I am a super genius, which I am by the way, byt the fact I fixed their cxomputer is not the reson. i gogle search the error code or describe their problem, ad often the solution is right there.

    nice tips.
    my worst case scenario:
    got new pc.
problem: white screen whenever gpu load increase. happens at RANDOM

    what i did?
troubleshooted with all possible gpu settings.
    tried dozen drivers.
    checked error dump.
assumed issue has to do with some nvlddmkm driver file..
forums at nvidia didn’t helped due to some soy bois acting experts..

in the end.. finally went to the store.. turned out graphic card was defected.. those losers installed some card of cheap brand.
    got it RMAed..
    problem solved
    wasted months.

    moral?
build your own pc. even if you have zero idea.. research a lot and fricken buy parts yourself and build your own, or get it build

One can also use other search engines like DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, Bing. From experience not all answers are found in Google.

  17. Texas Cowboy on December 17, 2020 at 5:06 pm

A good tip for searching Google to fix errors is to use quotation marks…

Search for: Notepad “Could not open file MyFile.txt”

Using quotation marks forces Google to search for that specific phrase which can better refine the results so that they’re specific to your problem.

Additionally, it’s always a good idea to include the OS you’re troubleshooting for. So…

Search for: Windows Notepad “Could not open file MyFile.txt”

…that way you don’t get results for Mac or Linux etc.

  18. Gowtham Manohar on December 17, 2020 at 5:07 pm

Here you go. Mr Thio again. He can sell whole moon by showing and pointing at nite to everyone in the world. Everyone thinks they got once in lifetime deal until they realized in the morning that moon was sold to everyone and starts killing each other thus the end of world.

Microsoft should put a TROUBLESHOT button by defaut on any app wit the X close button. And it iwll prompt user to restart the aplicaiton to attempt to fix the problem. Basically a restart app button disgfuised as a FIX PROBLEM button ^^ pERFECT! You gotta think like a noob.

  34. Paralax on December 17, 2020 at 5:23 pm

I literally do this myself already, it’s all common sense, but I guess for most people it isn’t “common” sense anymore.

  35. LogikEngine on December 17, 2020 at 5:26 pm

Another elementary thing you can do: if the device is plugged into an electrical outlet, make sure the outlet is working: plug a known good lamp into the outlet.

As a computer tech, I use the 3 Rs. Retry, restart/reboot, and re-install. Sometimes a bit more complicated in my experience. When asked what is the most important tool for a computer technician I always say "Google"

What to find solved posts faster? First always add "[SOLVED]" (yes, in brackets) to your search. Many forums will add [SOLVED] in the title of a post after an answer there was accepted as a correct or helpful answer. Want to narrow it down even more? Add "intitle:[SOLVED]" as well.
