Do you need a 5G phone in 2021?

The new year is almost upon us and you want a slice of sweet 5G pie. (Or maybe you don’t. I probably don’t know you, so I don’t want to assume, but you are probably at least a little interested in 5G or you wouldn’t be here, right?)

But is 5G everything the US cellular carriers (Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile) want you to believe it is or will your old 4G phone get you through the new year just fine.

I have the answers. Watch and let the knowledge flow through you.

    Average usage user only me.

Okay was on the fence of getting 4g note 10+ or note20 ultra, both same specs essentially but still unsure because of possible 5g improvements in upcoming years or would 10+ 4g still be enough within 2-4 years compared to note20 ultra? Thanks for any feedback if you do!

Man im 18 years old and sell paintings for a living. Im thinking about buying a 200 euro Xiaomi poco x3 nfc. I have the money, but my question is. Is it the wrong time and the wrong place (greece) for me to buy it? Like i don’t want to change my phone again in a year or two. I don’t even know what 5g will affect… wifi? sim cards?

  6. JDGidd1970 on July 22, 2021 at 8:57 pm

That’s why I chose the pixel 4A over the pixel 5 because I’ve no use for 5G right now and honestly the entire 5G Network in the United States is a messy lie and until it stabilizes and actually becomes standard which I don’t expect to happen for two years I’ll be happy where I’m at Good old reliable LTE sorry for the run-on sentence voice typing.

Great video. Absolutely true, I have a Samsung S20 Ultra, have had it for months, on t-mobile. Yes it says 5g in my status bar, but no noticeable difference at all. Even tested my DL/UL speeds and they’re basically the same. South Florida.

  9. Dan Capell on July 22, 2021 at 8:59 pm

3g needs to be COMPLETELY shut down!

  10. Eddie Keyton on July 22, 2021 at 9:00 pm

I love 5g. I can stream in 4k with absolutely 0 buffer. I can upload and download in the blink of an eye. I get almost 200Mb down vs lte 30Mb down. On tmobile.

  11. Denis D. Budnik on July 22, 2021 at 9:00 pm

Greetings, just got my new S21 Ultra on T-Mobile. I didn’t buy the phone for 5G, just came with. However, I got excited when my phone indicated I was receiving 5G. I did a speed test and the download speed clocked in at 12.5. Well that’s better than LTE LOL… oh well another pipe dream busted.

  12. Caio Cotrim on July 22, 2021 at 9:04 pm

Nice and clear information as always man!
My wife has an Iphone 11 and I have a Oneplus 8 on T-Mobile.
She is loosing signal all the time and I’m right at her side, sometimes with almost full signal. Maybe it’s 5G and 4G coverages together, maybe not. But I’m very happy with 1+ (until the next phone my guts need to have LOL)!

It seems that some people here are confusing 5G with 5Ghz or even Wi-fi 5

I’m currently in the market for a new mid-range phone, and there are a few interesting 5G options (the Moto G 5G Plus or the Nokia 8.3 5G for instance), but I feel that I’ll have to sacrifice something else to get that 5G (usually battery or camera quality). Do you think it’s worth making that sacrifice to get 5G?

  26. Grey Astig on July 22, 2021 at 9:18 pm

Does phone with 5g has a better and faster wifi connection than 4g phone or it doesn’t matter if it’s wifi internet?

I got the Samsung s21 5g with t-mobile in Dallas Tx. I thought I was upgrading but surprisingly, the service is not different. I even think at times I was better with my older phone. I had an s10e. I wish I had watched this video before…

Can I use 5G on an IPhone X

  30. kevin brown on July 22, 2021 at 9:22 pm

So I own a Samsung S20 Ultra Note + 5G. For the most part it has worked with no signal issues at all on places where my work phone, an iPhone 8,shows 5GE but doesn’t get any coverage and I lose vpn. Meanwhile my personal phone is going strong. It seems faster but it may be because the phone just refreshes quicker as well. I’m also on At&t in the US.

  31. Zraupp10 on July 22, 2021 at 9:24 pm

    What 5G does ATT use?

  32. Al's Homestead on July 22, 2021 at 9:25 pm

My next upgrade will probably be the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. I probably won’t have it on 5G for a few years though, where I live there we’re lucky to get 4 bars of 4G!

Great video as what is really happening😎👍 I went from the Samsung Galaxy S3 because 3G on my S2 would not load well back in 2013 so I upgraded to the S3 to get 4G LTE. I would have no problems sticking with my Galaxy S3 until I received "Pop-Ups" this month saying, functions would start shutting down, by my carrier otherwise, I would have kept my S3 past 2021 into 2025 and beyond when the real 5G standardized. Right now it’s all in the marketing 5G(low, mid, high, C). 5G Low is no faster than 4GLTE. Since my Galaxy S3 sent messages that if I didn’t upgrade by July 2021, more functions would shut down and I would have to pay extra for what was free. Last week, I upgraded to a refurbished Galaxy S8 -which is just as fast as my friend’s iPhone 11. Go figure as the main difference is that I have longer battery life on my S8 is longer than my S3. I’ve gone through 6 batteries on my S3, not a scratch on the glass or body of my phone and looks better than my refurbished S8. *I see no reason to go to 5G at this time nor any time in the near future* and plan to keep my S8 for at least the next 4-6 years😎👍.

  48. Tony Camisi on July 22, 2021 at 9:46 pm

Amazing video, but I do have to ask…. do you own a 5G phone or are you still on 4G?

  49. Roshen Philip on July 22, 2021 at 9:47 pm

Thank you so much for that man, No company no where does it tell us what happens when you have a 5g device , is it any different from what I was getting earlier, no body says that properly every telecom company is just going on promoting 5g but to be honest I work in a networking company and I keep getting complaints on people saying they have a 5g device but it’s not any different from 4g, I also don’t understand why do you need such high speeds when you are going to use it for the same things you were already using it for before on 4g, okay if it penetrated through walls then I would be like okay that is a breakthrough in technology but apparently it doesn’t and I have customers who literary live next to the network mast and still don’t get any 5g, so I think at the moment, it’s just a strategy to sell a product, unless in a couple of years it really reaches every home it’s a useless technology for now.
