David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash speak

Half a century ago, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young released one of the greatest albums of the rock era, “Déjà vu.” The record would sell eight million copies, but the band, and the friendships, did not endure. “CBS This Morning” co-host Anthony Mason talks with David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash about their shared history and the timeless music they produced, as “Déjà vu” gets a delayed 50th-anniversary expanded release.

“CBS Sunday Morning” features stories on the arts, music, nature, entertainment, sports, history, science and Americana, and highlights unique human accomplishments and achievements. Check local listings for CBS Sunday Morning broadcast times.

Crosby can be an ass…a royal one. I’ve seen him live multiple times solo & with others, & he likes being a contrarian very passive-aggressively, undoubtedly stemming from extreme insecurity. Like the time he trash-talked The Doors between songs…because they didn’t have a ‘real bassist’. It was a stupid comment, which detracted from the show experience. He’s a prime example of why meeting all those you admire or idolize due to their artistry is rarely memorable in a positive way…which is such a shame.

  7. Chereese Ferreira on June 1, 2021 at 4:52 am

We saw David and Graham about 5 years ago.
    Something must have happened again!
    Damnit Crosby!!
    Can’t you all get along?
    Probably drugs again.
    Hope not.

  8. Kim on June 1, 2021 at 4:52 am

I don’t understand: we saw CSN live, in person, in concert, on stage together, in Berlin 8 years ago (2013), so what are they talking about???

  9. Bill Ferron on June 1, 2021 at 4:52 am

Crosby was the weak link in the group.

  10. Ron Oberbeck on June 1, 2021 at 4:55 am

I wish you guys would proverbially kiss and make-up.
Life is short. Many of us have kicked it already and you guys will soon also..
So why Not make peace before we all do?
I just want to thank you all for the Fantastic contribution to Our generation!
You guys gave us so much happiness and so much hope and you should enjoy and celebrate Each Other at this point in my humble opinion.

    What a fluff piece

  12. justafanintexas on June 1, 2021 at 4:59 am

There is a classic rock station here in San Antonio that never, ever plays any of their songs. Of course, they play very little Clapton in any form and seldom play Hendrix but play Guns and Roses until your ears bleed.

  13. Jeep Man on June 1, 2021 at 5:00 am

I saw C.S.N. I think about 1984 at Glens Falls Civic Center, Upstate NY.
with Ed Konow! What a great band!! Neil Y. wasn’t there. 🙁

  14. Jinkabel on June 1, 2021 at 5:02 am

Bands are incredibly fragile entities, and people are … well…people. Graham Nash is a mensch and Croz is an insufferable egomaniac, and these facts are well-known. But those harmonies and that body of work that they produced in twos, threes, and sometimes fours is beautiful and provocative and, for me, unforgettable.

  15. Rere Simone on June 1, 2021 at 5:03 am

crosby the most depressing song writer ever. and nash simply a lower level. stills and young;;;;another planet

David Crosby is a sorry excuse for a human being

  22. Happy Raccoon on June 1, 2021 at 5:11 am

  24. dclate62 on June 1, 2021 at 5:13 am

A leopard doesn’t change his spots. David will be David, but a ‘final tour’ would prove to be a fitting way of saying ‘forgiveness is possible, Love is better than war’. You COULD do it guys, if you would only swallow your pride….

  25. John Arnone on June 1, 2021 at 5:13 am

I love these guys and their music. With these periodic press releases, seems like we’re trying to build up interest for the eventual reunion and tour in 2022. I hope they’re cool and don’t charge $800 a ticket.

  26. JLH on June 1, 2021 at 5:14 am

PUT IT DOWN, GRAHAM! You have cheated your own soul, long enough.
STICKS AND STONES. You are bigger than that. I promise. 🧚‍♂️

  28. Paul Plack on June 1, 2021 at 5:14 am

It’s sad, but usually the emotional intensity which creates a collaboration this great also burns it out. It’s hard to find any band which has fractured like this fully heal and return. Especially when one member keeps fanning the coals.

  29. Charles Atwell on June 1, 2021 at 5:15 am

They inspired a lot of folks, including me

  30. Leonard Daneman on June 1, 2021 at 5:16 am

As the Fortune Cookie philosopher drunkenly opined, ‘Words like water can be poured, but never put back into the toothpaste tube.’

  31. Adam Tobin on June 1, 2021 at 5:17 am

David Crosby is so lucky to be alive, but glad he is.

  32. Paul R on June 1, 2021 at 5:17 am

    Graham Nash. Genuine. Decent. Generous.

  33. Cindy Steffens on June 1, 2021 at 5:17 am

I still have my vinyl copy. Love it!

  34. Rodney Sandel on June 1, 2021 at 5:20 am

It’s sad that they had that argument they won’t make up well at least they did make good music Crosby Still Nash & Young I’m glad I live here then play it

  35. Douglas Buck on June 1, 2021 at 5:20 am

    dICKS ruin everything ……………….

  36. clafong9 on June 1, 2021 at 5:21 am

The first album with just the 3 of them was THE album. Deja Vu was a great album but they were starting to fall apart even then. Read the great book on the group by David Browne. Young didn’t really join the group and was always going off to do his own thing. Drugs and big egos fueled the other problems. A shame because they were massively talented.

  37. Joseph Van on June 1, 2021 at 5:22 am

These three old hippies are living proof that the ability to produce good music does not translate to living fruitful lives.

  38. Jerome B on June 1, 2021 at 5:22 am

Country Girl whiskey Boot Hill, Neil Young song but Dave Crosby has harmony vocal that’s breathtaking

  39. Michael Rogers on June 1, 2021 at 5:22 am

It’s sad that that era of music will never be repeated . Pop/rock is all about selling products now. No one buys the physical copy of these recordings anymore. Everything is downloaded. There is something magical about owning and album or a great book. I’m glad vinyl is making a resurgence .

  40. Roger Beaird on June 1, 2021 at 5:23 am

That’s what forgiveness is for pride is an ugly thing these guys have huge egos they shou burry the hatchet 🪓

  41. Todd Hilley on June 1, 2021 at 5:23 am

Great band , and if all else failed they could of hired out Young and Crosby as stars of a horror movie .

  42. Inverness Fan on June 1, 2021 at 5:24 am

    Good band.

  44. Dugan Fry on June 1, 2021 at 5:29 am

Unfortunately David Crosby is the Chevy Chase of rock&roll. Burnt too many bridges.

There are soundboard recordings of these troubadours of Harmony they can be heard if you can find them dating back to 1970 or 1974 which are just on the top of the harmony acclations of all who have created such lyrical and musical Harmony.. thank you so very much for your contributions they will last throughout the centuries

  47. Glo Waves on June 1, 2021 at 5:35 am

David Crosby is so grounded and intelligent, it’s difficult to explain why some regrettable things come out of his mouth. Btw listen to his album If Only I Could Remember My Name (1971); it’s like finding another CSN album from those days, and it’s ridiculously beautiful.

  48. Karl Hingus on June 1, 2021 at 5:36 am

Jesus Christ are the 60’s over yet ?

  49. Morris Wilburn on June 1, 2021 at 5:37 am

Just think what more they could have done had Crosby not gotten so deep into drugs. What a shame.

  50. John Powell on June 1, 2021 at 5:38 am

Great music, it is historic but I’ve grown tired of listening to these personalities that are not the equal of their musical talent.
