COD WW2 D-Day Comparison: which game did it best?

Playing through the Call of Duty World War 2 D-Day mission is an intense experience but COD WW2 is not the first game to have approached the WW2 Normandy Landings. In this D-Day comparison video, Ian compares the Medal of Honor: Allied Assault D-Day level, the Medal of Honor Frontlines D-Day level, the Call of Duty 2 D-Day level, the Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WW2 D-Day level and the Company of Heroes 2 D-Day level. This video also features footage from Saving Private Ryan’s Omaha Beach sequence .

Welp it turns out CoD: Wwii didn’t win, despite it’s true characters, events, actions, and even the fact you can’t really save most of your allies, and that they spawn as completely different people.

    TOO MANY ADVERTS

  3. TDixon Gaming on January 22, 2021 at 5:58 pm

Where the fuck is COD 2 Big Red One! You know the game that came before COD 2

  4. IceCream Fool on January 22, 2021 at 5:58 pm

    Cod ww2 did it

  5. Touch Me on January 22, 2021 at 6:01 pm

Cod wwii would be perfect if it had actual mg 42 sounds instead of suppressors

  6. D N on January 22, 2021 at 6:02 pm

That one in COD 2 is Utah Ridge. Not Normandy.

  7. _jeff _ on January 22, 2021 at 6:03 pm

cod 2 i think was utah beach the others were omaha beach

  8. D N on January 22, 2021 at 6:04 pm

Fun fact:The assault on Palilu was way worse than D-DAY.

  9. Jayme Splendid on January 22, 2021 at 6:05 pm

An open world WWII Action RPG game would be Amazing

  10. Schifflein on January 22, 2021 at 6:07 pm

Conker live and reloaded is obviously the most realistic ww2 game

  11. Jared Isley-Oliver on January 22, 2021 at 6:08 pm

You also forgot the Omaha beach mission in Call of Duty 2: Big Red One which was Treyarchs first call of duty and was for the ps2 and xbox not the xbox 360.

7:40 This definitely works best when you listen through a headset. You can’t zone out when you’re just listening to a TV.

It’s always baffled me why the Battle of Britain is never represented in these games. An entire battle comprised of arial combat and yet never even gets referenced. Maybe it’s because the USA had yet to officially enter the war and so doesn’t conform to their “USA SAVES THE WORLD” approach.

  14. Camden Brewer on January 22, 2021 at 6:13 pm

The newer games get, the less control we have of the game. As each game gets released, they are inserting so many cut scenes that your not even in control for 40% of the time during the Omaha beach mission in Cod WW2.

I don’t understand why they can’t just have one cut scene and then just let us be immersive in the game instead of wanting to play us through a movie FOR US instead of playing through our own control.

This really gets on my nerves as games get newer and newer. They are becoming movies now a days, not first person shooters.

  15. cooldude on January 22, 2021 at 6:14 pm

I feel CoD WW2 has the worst, most cinematic and less realistic version of them all

  16. Seth Chiaro Productions on January 22, 2021 at 6:15 pm

You forget call of duty big red one.

  17. Soul Intent on January 22, 2021 at 6:17 pm

Cod ww2 had such an intense landing level. I remember playing medal of honor frontlines back in the day. That was incredible for the time. Wish i still had my ps2 so i could play that game again.

  18. Meaty Schmeaty on January 22, 2021 at 6:17 pm

2:55 look at that absolute madlad who just runs on the beach

  19. Aaron Alvey on January 22, 2021 at 6:18 pm

People really need to quit complaining and saying "looks like saving private Ryan." Like no shit Sherlock, and what is saving private Ryan based on? WW2. What is the game itself based on??? WW2!!!

  20. _jeff _ on January 22, 2021 at 6:19 pm

11:48 sorry but thats nothing compared to other american battles or even soviet battles

  21. Jared Isley-Oliver on January 22, 2021 at 6:20 pm

Steven Spielberg asked EA to make a ww2 shooter to go with his movie Saving Private Ryan. He was there for most of the first games. Of course they took inspiration from his work as with out him who else would of thought of making a ww2 shooter at that time?

  22. slumped specks on January 22, 2021 at 6:22 pm

  23. Itz Skipper_2026 on January 22, 2021 at 6:23 pm

I’d say CoD: wwii did it the best

  24. Anthony Vigil on January 22, 2021 at 6:25 pm

Why aren’t there More pacific theater ww2 games?

  25. Khalil on January 22, 2021 at 6:25 pm

Bullets dont actually travel that far in water though.

  26. jesse red on January 22, 2021 at 6:25 pm

In my opinion the beach in cod ww2 should have been alot bigger. Yes i gotta say it was a dramatic mission especially with all of the npcs getting thrown around and stuff but it lasted such a short time. The beach wasnt even half the size of the real one. So in my opinion it could have been better but the other missions beyond that were good. Btw im not saying that the d-day mission was bad.

  29. Blade Of Truth BYA on January 22, 2021 at 6:30 pm

Fact: Call of Duty: World War 2 was the Remake of Call of Duty 2:2005.
The scenes in Call of Duty 2017 was copied from the accurate dramatization, "Saving Private Ryan".

First: We can see turner is giving commands to his troops, same as what tom hanks did.

Second: The drop of boat’s gate was clearly bloody as hell when turner’s troops died, same as in the scene from the "Saving Private Ryan" movie.

Third: Notice the scene when daniels and turner escaped from the boat through the side of the boat, and it’s the same as we can see in Saving Private Ryan.

Fourth: Instead of including the "Priest Scene" that was giving the last sacrament in "Saving Private Ryan", we will notice that turner did the "Sign of the Cross" and after it he gave commands to daniels.

  33. Elan Martin on January 22, 2021 at 6:34 pm

Remember the opening of Battlefield 1? Wouldn’t it have been cool if they did that sorta thing with Battlefield V where you’re at different large scale battles of World War 2 and each time you die you get placed into another soldiers body?

  34. layton alan on January 22, 2021 at 6:34 pm

  36. Grant Commons on January 22, 2021 at 6:36 pm

Not one ww2 game has featured a British dday mission or Canadian one either ,British and Canadians landed on sword and Juno beaches

  37. RiverChicken on January 22, 2021 at 6:37 pm

I hope you realise that not all troops on dday were American like that plane mission was in a British typhoon aircraft

  38. Wolf Cry on January 22, 2021 at 6:37 pm

God bless the heroes of D Day.

  39. keep er truckin on January 22, 2021 at 6:37 pm

  41. Geo Duck on January 22, 2021 at 6:38 pm

  42. Abb on January 22, 2021 at 6:39 pm

Is the COD ww2 d day supposed to be Utah? It doesn’t look like Omaha.

  43. Kwek on January 22, 2021 at 6:41 pm

Imagine all of these characters and all of these games take place at the same time

  44. Sheepy15 on January 22, 2021 at 6:44 pm

  45. Weepin Hijay on January 22, 2021 at 6:44 pm

For me, I think the D Day level in a game called easy red is better than that of COD:WW2.

  46. teebird38 on January 22, 2021 at 6:49 pm

Big Red One had the best D-day

  47. MOStein on January 22, 2021 at 6:52 pm

Now imagine if Battlefield V wasn’t a cesspool of twitter feminist propaganda……Probably would have been the best piece of WW2 entertainment media in history. Sad.

  48. sjescone on January 22, 2021 at 6:53 pm

Yall know that in the first medal of honor Steven Spielberg were involved? It looks like spr because of that reason!!

  49. Denijel Bebić on January 22, 2021 at 6:53 pm

Ww2 or cod 2. Ww2 is alot better at graphics but the og cod 2 was the first ever COD to have a d day lvl. So i say both of those

  50. L0RD SPARTAN on January 22, 2021 at 6:54 pm

The best game to compare what happened is the Conker: Live & Reloaded game. Yes it’s a squirrel but it was legitimately done like movie saveing private Brian.
