BEST Audio System UPGRADES for your Jeep Wrangler JL – JL Audio Stealthbox Overview

The Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT Audio system leaves room for improvement. I personally wanted more sound quality and more bass output, but I didn’t want to add a huge subwoofer enclosure that would eat up cargo space, or have amplifiers in the open and exposed. Let’s take a look at the custom car audio system that I choose for my Jeep Wrangler in order to improve the sound and bass!

🔊 Parts Used:
✔️ JL Audio Stealthbox Subwoofer Enclosure, Amp Rack Bracket, Fuse Mounting Block:

✔️ C7 Component Speakers:

I had alpine s types in the front originally in the front of my wrangler and i switched them out for focal k2’s. They sound no different, the stock enclosure for the tweeters is awful.

Very nice an clean install great job

  19. ApexPredator_JKU on September 18, 2021 at 12:21 am

Hit the trails? You mean like John Bull, Big Bear, The Rubicon? There’s a reason why Jeepers mount their amps in that cubby hole in the back. All these trails have water crossings with no bypasses. Unless you’re on 42" tires with a 3.5" lift the odds of the Jeep not taking in water are slim to none and the 1st place that water is going to pool up is under that seat. That’s why there’s drain plugs there. Go ask LiteBrite, you did their Supra. They’re the biggest Jeep influencers on YouTube. Mounting amps under the seat is for Mallcrawlers.

  20. ebenezer nithin on September 18, 2021 at 12:22 am

Hi bro, Awesome question..i hve polk audio db6502 db+ components speakers in rear n front..i m looking for an amplifier to power these components..Some one recommended Pioneer GM 8704 amplifier..can i go ahead with this amp? Pls respond

  21. Jesus Lemus on September 18, 2021 at 12:22 am

My jeep jl came with a factory alpine system & what amp would you recommend

  22. Mark Philpot on September 18, 2021 at 12:22 am

Your thinking and doing the stealth way and I believe in this philosophy. If it isn’t obvious, it’s less likely to become a target for thieves. Having greater options in amp mounting and amp choices makes this an easy sell for a shop. You get great sound and it is not obvious and you still have full access to your storage areas. That’s a triple winner there Mark. Great ideas and a great system with lots of options. Can’t lose! Stay safe mates!😊👍🏻😷

  23. JeepΦJeep on September 18, 2021 at 12:23 am

You obviously aren’t in any Jeep forums or social media groups. If you were you’d know the last place you want to mount that amp is under the seat if you ever plan on wheeling that rig. Not unless you want to submerge it under water.

  24. Say cheese on September 18, 2021 at 12:25 am

    Such a clean set-up

  25. SummerBRZ on September 18, 2021 at 12:25 am

…of course it does Mark, look at all the gear (and work) you put in to it. Any car would sound amazing after all of that.

  26. David Lunsford on September 18, 2021 at 12:26 am

Great job again 🙂. Would a component set be to much? I do have a 12" sub if that helps you. Ty in advance.

  27. nick parkin on September 18, 2021 at 12:27 am

Hey mark just curious, do you ever use a woofer tester to measure the specs of the woofer when designing boxes? I use a Dayton Audio DATS V3 and the T/S parameters I measured from a variety of manufacturers were pretty far off from the published t/s parameters. You can easily be losing 10-20% of the bass output. I would highly recommend Measuring your subs before designing a box!

Also, I got a CNC machine for building nice boxes and it would make your life a lot easier to cut things. Can pretty much make flat packs that slot together with plenty of bracing with a real world accuracy of ~0.005”. Can also engrave patterns, cool designs, and text onto any baffle I make on it. Check out the “shapeoko” brand of machines. It takes a few days to set up, but it is well worth it.

    Keep up the amazing work!

  28. Ítalo Barrera B on September 18, 2021 at 12:27 am

Hi Mark. I have a Jimny 2020, that Is pretty similar to a Wrangler Sport. I bougth a 4 channel amp, for my front components and rear coaxial. Do you recomend to amp the components and coax or only the tweeter and midwoofers with active crossover?

  29. MrVsbt1 on September 18, 2021 at 12:27 am

how do the amps cope with the rear feet vent with the heater on. great video anyway I have two mates that own wranglers I’ll show them this vid and what type of head unit is that

  30. Anthony Huynh on September 18, 2021 at 12:30 am

Can you please make a video explaining capacitors and how to estimate what farad you need and if they even make a difference? Or when you start to need them etc?

  31. Ghaith Alkiyumi on September 18, 2021 at 12:35 am

from where did you get the mounting braket?

  32. Allen Mando on September 18, 2021 at 12:36 am

Was there a line out converter? I missed it!

  33. DARREN TRD on September 18, 2021 at 12:37 am

Hii… I need some advice and thought you can help… the live and ground wires accidentally touched on my amp, would you maybe be able to tell me what I should replace inside my amp to make it turn on again… now it just blows my inline fuse by the battery… thanks in advance.

  34. NerdBlurt on September 18, 2021 at 12:38 am

I used nutserts to save time and not remove rear inner fenders.

  35. Travis B on September 18, 2021 at 12:39 am

JL needs to engineer a couple tensioning bars that go between the roll cage bars and put pressure on the fiberglass roof to dampen it. Or maybe a CAF product?? I’ll split it with you and help with R&D!

  36. S. C. on September 18, 2021 at 12:39 am

Soooo, what do you do if you don’t have $3-4k to spend on hardware/installation?

Any recommendations for a budget around $1k?

  37. SunnyDisposition on September 18, 2021 at 12:39 am

Still no install videos on the JL channel tho?

  38. SunnyDisposition on September 18, 2021 at 12:40 am

Jeep Wrangler JL Willy’s owner! Love this JL Audio setup. The stealth boxes are super trick and can’t wait to install a pair!

Center speaker wiring how and what is best

  40. Michael Daniels II on September 18, 2021 at 12:45 am

Excellent work my friend, You almost sold me on buying a Jeep Wrangler just to replicate this set up. Lol
I do however have a 2019 ram 1500 limited with the Harman kardon 19 speaker system . I wish someone would do a video on the JL audio stealth Box with the 2 tens for the 1500s. I have a 12W6v3 in a porter Box that I was running in my 2017 Cadillac CTS, before I got the truck now it’s just sitting in the garage. Do you think your 2 sealed tens would put out more base than a ported 12W6V3, Running the same 600W to either??

  41. anto willery on September 18, 2021 at 12:45 am

Great content as always Mark thanks for the knowledge. What are your thought on Horn Enclosures for toyota corrolla Sedan?

  42. Travis B on September 18, 2021 at 12:47 am

The best audio system tip I can give to Jeep owners who want quality sound is to get a different vehicle LOL

  43. john smith on September 18, 2021 at 12:51 am

    looks great …great job

  44. Leonel Ceballos on September 18, 2021 at 12:51 am

Do you recommend a good place that can do this to my jl in San Diego ca

  45. Zaki Kahl on September 18, 2021 at 12:53 am

I would love to know if you’ve listened to a JL with the upgraded factory Alpine system, and if you have you’re thoughts on it. I think it’s one of the best OEM system I’ve heard.

  46. SSMCable on September 18, 2021 at 12:53 am

Some recent artists have released their music saying there will be no DMCA strikes. Might wanna look around. I’ll try to remember some of them.

I have a 2006 Grand Prix and I e notice in your other vids the Grand Prix. Do you have any tips on my car audio?

  49. Antonio Gaxiola on September 18, 2021 at 12:55 am

Hello! I am your follower, I really like your channel.
Maybe you can talk about JL Audio Fix 86 because I need to know if this is necessary if I already have an amplifier with DSP like AudioControl D-6.1200 or D-4.800

    Thanks! Regards from Mexico!

  50. james mannion on September 18, 2021 at 12:56 am

If you could only change one thing on a factory system what would it be? I’m looking at upgrading mine but can only do one part at a time. So looking at where to start.
