Japan is no stranger to the world of video games but it does have a tendency to create some of the odder experiences in gaming. Unfortunately a lot of these fail to pick up much traction in the West. For every Final Fantasy or Super Mario there’s a Star Ocean and Tembo The Badass Elephant.
We compiled a list of 9 Japanese games you really should check out that you might not of already. A few of them are on the more popular end of the scale but all of them are games you should check out.
Some of these games were critically well received, or had an entry in their series that performed well, but deserve to be on the list still.

My top 10 games got probably 9 japanese games, so it’s weird for me how japanese games became a niche, a genre nowadays.

Man, this is a disappointing list! I have seen these games talked about in major ways by other YouTube channels. I was hoping for Japanese Video Games that were old or not really available.
I absolutely love the persona series I think it’s a great combination of RPG elements great gameplay and story combined along with music to make a great game series along with the Catherine game which I think is a good one because it’s made by the same people that made the persona series

never played persona and will never due but catherine I want to play
where’s the .hack series??
I know I wouldn’t like Catherine, but I’m not sure if I’d like the Persona games or not. 100 hours seems a little much. Combat seems fun….just not sure about all the weeb stuff tacked on to it.

Imo a lot of people have heard of Devil May Cry, Attack on Titan, and Nier so I would say these games would have been better not being on it at all and have other games that aren’t as well recognised in it
