World series baseball GENESIS hardball 94 . MLBPA baseball.

  2. RGT 85 on July 19, 2021 at 9:21 pm

World Series Baseball was my jam. Used to be up til 2am at my Uncles house doing home run derbys with him.

  3. bnyce1 on July 19, 2021 at 9:23 pm

No bases loaded man that was a great game

  5. Adaryl Fisher Reviews on July 19, 2021 at 9:27 pm

Bases Loaded 2: The Second Season on NES is my all time favorite baseball game. It was ahead of it’s time with the strategies and player algorithms that really played a part in the game. Knowing when to sub within your bullpen was an integral part to winning 75 of the 125 games needed to advance to the playoffs. Also the behind the mound camera view was outstanding for offense and defense. The players would actually have a fight if the pitcher hit the batter too many times. Overall my favorite baseball sim.

Baseball stars for the NES fav classic as well the Neo Geo arcade version

  7. genius2012 on July 19, 2021 at 9:32 pm

“Ken Griffey Jr. MLB Baseball” is still one of my all-time favorite baseball games along with SNK’s “Baseball Stars”!

  8. Slyguy threeonetwonine on July 19, 2021 at 9:32 pm

I owned RBI Baseball ’94 I think? Loved it, still wake up with music from it in my head.

I also had World Series Baseball for the GameGear, I played the mess out of too. Same thing with the music.

I used to rent the "Hardball" series a ton for the Genesis. The first one I was awful at. But 3 and 4 I think got pretty good. I loved being able to rename the players and team and change the logo in that one.

My go to baseball game though is MVP Baseball 05 for the PC.

  9. archaea9 on July 19, 2021 at 9:33 pm

Any one ever play High Heat Baseball by 3DO? Loved that in the 2000’s. Liked the customization and realism like the announcers and hecklers.

  10. Mike C on July 19, 2021 at 9:33 pm

The Show is great but MVP 2005 is the best baseball game ever made

  11. Ashura96 on July 19, 2021 at 9:33 pm

Sega’s World Series ‘99 is my favorite arcade baseball game. Very fast paced and I love the flip lever for swinging the bat. Unfortunately it never got a home port so you would either have to find an arcade cabinet or emulate it.

  12. James Johansen on July 19, 2021 at 9:37 pm

Tecmo Super Baseball for the Genesis. It’s never talked about, but hands down has the best fielding and pitching mechanics on 16 bit consoles.

  13. tech money on July 19, 2021 at 9:38 pm

    Baseball simulator 1.000 snes

  14. mrbigjonstud on July 19, 2021 at 9:39 pm

2 of my favs were super baseball 2020 for snes, always loved the idea of hot babes and robots as players hahaha The other one a more realistic side, was all star baseball 2000 on n64, me and my by buddies played 3 player (sometimes 4 player) full seasons together (well like 82 games), loved the different pitches, diving catches, home runs , stats and how you can change computer difficulty if you dont wanna run up the scores.

  15. 519MaLoNeY on July 19, 2021 at 9:40 pm

Hey John! Or anyone else who can answer…I already own Baseball Stars 2 for switch AND LOVE IT! Lol. Do you think Baseball Stars Professional is worth the investment on top of it? Is there much difference in gameplay?

  16. Andrew Lazin on July 19, 2021 at 9:40 pm

3D Baseball is decent on the PS1.

  17. scott harris on July 19, 2021 at 9:41 pm

Little League Baseball for the NES was the most played game in my house growing up. 2 player was the way to go. My brothers and I would play rock, paper, scissors to see who got to choose Canada, the best team in the game. But the most fun we had playing was playing as Italy vs Puerto Rico.

  18. Eight Ball on July 19, 2021 at 9:42 pm

the players in ken griffey jr baseball are all real players with changed names, if you want you can change all the names to who they are in real life

  19. SonicMrSumo on July 19, 2021 at 9:43 pm

No Sports Talk Baseball?…WTF! Groundbreakng with play by play commentary, all MLB teams, full rosters, pitcher fatigue and a full season…defintely the best I played in the 16-bit era.

  20. Jon Christopherson on July 19, 2021 at 9:43 pm

I liked RBI baseball 2 on nes by tengen
    The cartridge was cool to

  22. darrell wooton on July 19, 2021 at 9:48 pm

    MLBPA baseball for the snes

  23. Mike3DO on July 19, 2021 at 9:49 pm

Bases Loaded is what I played back in the day. However, wife and I been playing NES Baseball on the Switch and it has been insanely fun! Teams are just different colors, there is no stats. Just the most basic baseball and that’s why we enjoy it. I enjoy it a little more, cause I always win. =)

  24. Bit Wars on July 19, 2021 at 9:49 pm

Although it’s a little rough around the edges I really like Super Bases Loaded on the SNES.

  25. poncho828 on July 19, 2021 at 9:50 pm

MLB the show is my favorite baseball game franchise

Baseball stars 2 for NEO GEO was even better! But I’m impressed with the list!

  28. frod79 on July 19, 2021 at 9:52 pm

I liked the super nes bases loaded games as well as the original

  29. CAX117 on July 19, 2021 at 9:53 pm

Baseball Stars 2 on Neo Geo

  30. Joey M on July 19, 2021 at 9:54 pm

Baseball Stars on the NES blew me away!! It was so much fun! I used to like Roger Clemens baseball on the NES. I would play with the Braves. The leadoff hitter Otis Nixon had the most power in the game. It was a simple game. Bit very good. But I had fun playing it.

  31. ThePS34life on July 19, 2021 at 9:55 pm

I loved playing bases loaded on the nes

  32. Doctor Skodt2 on July 19, 2021 at 9:57 pm

For my money: World Series Baseball II on the Sega Saturn is my go to baseball game. Are there more technically advanced games after this one? YUP. But this game just spelled F-U-N. I loved the commentators and the mechanics weren’t too difficult. The following year, WSB95 just wasn’t the same. They messed up the mechanics, and the game got sloppy.

As for MLB The Show, I don’t think it’s fair to pick the whole franchise as one of the "5 Greatest Baseball Games You Need To Play". Therefore, I would pick MLB The Show 2008 for my personal choice from that franchise. The reasons are numerous, but one reason is the beauty and ease of use. At the time, my mom came home and saw a baseball game on the living room TV. She was a lifelong baseball fan so she sat down to watch the game with me. About ten minutes later, I paused the game to get a drink and she was shocked that I was playing a game (even though I thought she realized I had a controller in my hand). We had a good laugh and I continued playing. MLBTS 09 began to feel bloated and once we got to MLBTS14 on PS4, I was a bit turned off. The simplicity of being able to hit and throw goes a long way. But when it is bogged down with new control mechanics that are gimmicky and tons of other stuff that takes you away from baseball itself, then you lose the player.

  33. Spencer Dubay on July 19, 2021 at 9:57 pm

MVP Baseball 2004 & 2005. Also Dusty Diamond’s Softball on the NES is a great softball game

  35. Shed on July 19, 2021 at 9:58 pm

GRIFFEY FOR SNES, GRIFFEY FOR N64, Bases Loaded II, Baseball Stars, Dusty Diamonds All Star Softball, World Series ’95 and LIttle League Baseball (NES) that’s all you need for baseball games

  36. Chris Smith on July 19, 2021 at 9:58 pm

OMG. I thought that was a real baseball game.
    That’s amazing.

  37. VG Legends on July 19, 2021 at 10:00 pm

I always liked the follow up to Ken Griffey JRs MLB, which was Ken Griffey JRs Winning Run for the SNES. Nothing will ever beat EA’s MVP Baseball 2005 though. That game was so immersive, the gameplay was so smooth, and the soundtrack is sick. Great video John, especially for all the big baseball fans out there. 🎮😎🤘⚾️

  38. CTG85 on July 19, 2021 at 10:00 pm

Triple Play 96 was an still is one of the best baseball games along with World Series baseball and hardball. MLB2K5 World Series Edition on OG Xbox is also a great baseball game

  39. malBOROkid on July 19, 2021 at 10:02 pm

  40. C J Heeley on July 19, 2021 at 10:03 pm

  43. Super Sexy Sega on July 19, 2021 at 10:09 pm

The World Series Baseball series on Genesis dominated the 16-bit era Baseball games. The in the batters box view was legit revolutionary and would inspire so many future Baseball games. As far as arcade style Sports Talk Baseball on Genesis was awesome.

  44. Nü Savings Group (NSG) on July 19, 2021 at 10:12 pm

RBI Baseball II (Amiga) and VR Baseball (Sony Platform). Best retro games 🎮👌

  45. TJ Letourneau on July 19, 2021 at 10:12 pm

Little League World Series for NES

  46. supersoundwave on July 19, 2021 at 10:12 pm

Your awesome video made me go out and re-buy some of these. Such great memories.

A little tidbit, Ken Griffey Jr does actually include all of the real players, just not their real names. 🙂

  47. Terry Britt on July 19, 2021 at 10:14 pm

All of the games featured in this video are great baseball games for various reasons. But one older and stats-based game I fondly remember and played a lot was Pure-State Baseball for the Commodore 64. I later added one of the season expansion disks and the stadium disk. It wasn’t much to look at, but offered a lot in strategy and the option to build your own players and teams. At the time, I managed an Electronics Boutique store in Texas and decided to have some fun at work by making an EB team with me and my staff as players, and displaying games on auto-play in the store; my district manager, however, was not amused…eh, supervisors.

Bases Loaded and Bo Jackson Baseball – NES
    Base Wars – NES
    Baseball Simulator 2000 – SNES
World Series ’98 – Sega Saturn
    Ken Griffey Jr. -N64

  49. Angg Voagg on July 19, 2021 at 10:15 pm

N64 i think names slugfest ..has griffey on cover and cartridge art…but game was legit first baseball game i played that has a draft.. realistic//ish trades on saseon mode. Not just the build your own all-star team like many old games trade systems ..anyway does anyone know what game i am trying to name..if its not slugfest..?
